Overview
The department works with the Monroe School District and other organizations to make the best use of all existing facilities and to offer a variety of recreational programs.

The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of recreational programs, activities, facilities, and parks for your enjoyment.
Facilities
The facilities in the parks include:
- Ball fields
- Bandshell
- Disc golf course
- Outdoor swimming pool (1700 22nd Avenue)
- Playgrounds
- Shelters
- Sand volleyball courts
- Tennis courts
Rentals
Facilities to rent are the Community Center, band-shell, swimming pool, and shelters.

The following list contains facts about the parks and programs of the Parks and Recreation Department.
- 13 playgrounds are available for children.
- More than 100 programs are offered.
- Monroe has 16 city park areas of 110 acres.
- Monroe has nine shelters.
- Outside the city limits there is a 90 acre park with trails and areas to walk your dog.
- Over 70 youth are hired during the year for 100 seasonal positions
