Department Policies

Registration Process
All programs require preregistration unless otherwise noted and most programs have a registration deadline. We recommend registering as soon as possible, as many programs fill up prior to this deadline and space is limited.

Forms of Payment Accepted
Online Registration with a credit card is available for most programs!  The department accepts cash or checks for in-person payments. Make checks payable to City of Monroe Park and Recreation. A $35 service charge will be assessed to each returned check.

ONLINE REGISTRATION - You can only register online up to one week before the program starts.  For programs that are less than a week away, or the registration deadline has passed, you will need to register at the Parks and Recreation Office.

Program Cost Structure
The Department charges two different program fees: resident and non-resident.  Residents are those who live within the Monroe School District and non-residents are those who live outside the district. The program fee for non-residents is $10 more than the resident fee.

Shelter Reservations
Reservations for the Community Center, Shelter Houses, Bandshell and the Pool will be taken the first “working” day of the month for the entire month of the following year. For example on April 1, 2019 reservations can be made up to and including the entire month of April for 2020.

For program promotion purposes, from time to time photographs may be taken of participants. Those who do not wish to have their photo taken or published must notify the office at (608) 329-2460.

Please recognize that the City of Monroe does not provide hospital or medical insurance for participants. Individuals are encouraged to obtain their own insurance prior to participating in department programs.

Weather Cancellations
If the department deems it necessary to cancel a program due to weather, it will be on the department’s Information Cancellation Line at (608) 329-2466.

Heat/Humidity Guidelines

A. Heat Index of 80-89 (Low to Moderate Risk)
Proceed with scheduled outdoor activity. Monitor participants carefully for necessary action. Encourage additional fluid intake.

B. Heat Index of 90-104 (Moderate Risk)
Use caution. Fluid/Shade/Rest breaks should be taken every 20-25 minutes. Activity should be modified for less exertion. Consider reducing program length.

C. Heat Index of 105-114 (High Risk)
Use extreme caution. Fluid/Shade/Rest should be taken every 15-20 minutes. Reduce program length to no more than 60 minutes per class. Additional instructor breaks. Consider cancelation of youth and senior programs of high exertion activities.

D. Heat Index of 115-130 (Very High Risk)
We will cancel all outdoor activities

Law Regarding Concussion Prevention
Wisconsin Act 172 (Concussion Law) states that any child under 19 years of age, who is engaged in an organized athletic activity, athletic game or competition must receive information about the law and return the signed Parent Athlete Agreement before participation.  Completion of one concussion form per child will cover all Monroe Parks and Recreation programs for the year.
