Business Licensing

Some businesses may be required to apply for and receive business licenses before operating certain components of their operations. Before proceeding with your project it is vitally important to check with the City regarding applicable business regulations and permits. While many regulations put in place related to business licensing are created by the City, many rules are also enforced by the State of Wisconsin.

The City regulates and licenses:
  • Amusements
  • Amusement devices
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Auctions
  • Transient and street merchants
  • Taxi cabs
  • Sidewalk cafes
  • Dances
  • Cigarettes
  • Weights and measures
  • Special events
  • Hotel room taxes
  • Electronic alarm systems
  • Public assemblies

Applications and information can be found through the City Code Title 3, the City’s website and by contacting the City Clerk’s Department. The City Clerk’s Department handles business license processing.
