Council Members
The City of Monroe City Council is comprised of 10 council members representing 10 different areas (wards) of the City.
Council members are elected by registered voters in their ward and represent that particular ward of the City of Monroe for a two year term. Even-numbered wards are elected in odd-numbered years and odd-numbered wards are elected in even-numbered years. In order to run for election the council member must also reside in that ward.
City Council meetings are held every first and third Tuesday of each month. If the meeting falls on an election day or holiday, the meeting will be held on the Wednesday immediately following.
