Comptroller/Treasurer
The Comptroller/Treasurer's (Finance) Department is located in the City Hall building at 1110 18th Avenue. The Comptroller/Treasurer's Department is responsible for all city financial operations. Department functions include tax/fee collections, budget preparation, utility billing, payroll and all other municipal accounting functions. The department staff includes:

Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m-4:30 p.m., and the telephone number is (608) 329-2528. There are no longer drop boxes at Dick's and Pick 'n
Save. There is still a drop box next to the North door of the City Hall building and a drive-up drop box by the Post Office mailboxes. The City payment box is white and marked for City Payments, and no postage is required on envelopes deposited into this drop box. Payments are always accepted by mail to the City Treasurer's Office, City of Monroe, 1110 18th Ave, Monroe, WI 53566. Water, sewer and trash bills are collected on a quarterly basis. Real Estate and Personal Property tax payments are collected in December and January of each year. Please remember that the second installment of real estate taxes are due by July 31st and payment must be made to the Green County Treasurer's office located (in the courthouse) at 1016 16th Ave, Monroe, WI 53566.
Please note when mailing in your water bill to please return the small portion with the bar coding on it, since payments are scanned into the system. Also, when making your first installment tax payments please enclose the bill that was mailed to you. If you would like a receipt of payment when mailing payments, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope.
The City now accepts automated withdrawal and credit card payments for water, sewer, and trash bills. Automated payments are taken out of accounts on the 15th of the billing quarter. You still will receive your water bill showing the amount "paid by auto deduct". To sign up for this service stop into the Treasurer's office with a voided check. Credit cards are accepted through this website. Simpy click on this for Real Estate Taxes or this for Utility Payments. Here you will be re-directed to the official payments site. There is a small fee assessed for credit card payments.
Dog licenses can be obtained at the City Treasurer's Office at City Hall. Please remember that a copy of the dog's rabies vaccination record is required. The cost of a dog license is $9.00 if your dog is spayed or neutered and $29.00 if unaltered. Licenses can be obtained at the Treasurer's office year round and are a based on calendar year (January 1 - December 31). New tags can be purchased in December for the next year. |
