The Finance Department is committed to the city's financial integrity, providing efficient and courteous assistance in financial matters and effectively communicating the results of those efforts to the City Council, committee members, mayor, city administrator, and department managers.
Duties
The department is responsible for the overall management of the city's accounting, payroll, budget, accounts payable and receivable, cash collections, investments, utility accounting, fixed assets, and record retention functions. Development of statistical data for the city's annual audited financial statements, bond rating, and governmental reporting are also handled in this department.
City Payments
There is a drop box next to the north door of the City Hall building and a drive-up drop box by the Post Office mailboxes. The city payment box is white and marked for city payments, and no postage is required on envelopes deposited into this drop box. Payments are always accepted by mail to the:
City Treasurer's Office
1110 18th Ave.
Monroe, WI 53566
Accepted Payments
Water, sewer, and trash bills are collected on a quarterly basis. Real estate and personal property tax payments are collected in December and January of each year. Please remember that the second installment of real estate taxes are due by July 31 and payment must be made to the Green County Treasurer's Office located (in the courthouse) at 1016 16th Avenue.
When making your first installment tax payments please enclose the bill stub that was mailed to you. If you would like a receipt of payment when mailing payments, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope.
Please note: When mailing in your water bill please return the small portion with the bar coding on it, since payments are scanned into the system.
Automated Payment Service
The city now accepts automated withdrawal and credit card payments for water, sewer, and trash bills. Automated payments are taken out of accounts on the 20th of the billing quarter. You still will receive your water bill showing the amount paid by auto deduction. To sign up for this service stop into the treasurer's office with a voided check.
Credit cards are accepted through this website. Pay your real estate taxes or utility payments. View the official payments site. There is a small fee assessed for credit card payments.
